Hit Me With Another

Currently Singing: Follow Me, Uncle Kracker

I should stop eating ice.

If one is high, water stabilizes you. Now, I am aware of that fact. However, it is highly likely that when one is high, one must muster up all the sense he or she has left in one's head to realize that ice is water as well. My point being, here I was letting my hair down, swaying my head to the music, voicing inane lyrics which didn't even correspond to those which were playing, was down two Screwdrivers and two Long Islands, when suddenly I had the habitual urge to munch on ice. Corollary to that, the drinks began to betray me, the tipsy-ness began wearing off, and my senses began to regain their strength. Not fair, I say.

I should stop eating ice.

Did you know though, that at Pebble Street, the buggers have started playing 'mast' hindi songs as well? Though earlier I protested, I realized that this New Friend's Colony pub hits the perfect note when it comes to blending Hindi mu-gik with the Angrezi. Well, needless to say, I enjoyed. Maybe it was the music, maybe it was the booze... Or maybe honey, it was just me ;)

That's got a very Oye Hip Hopper feel to it.

If that's what it takes to be an Indian living in contemporary India... I'll take it. Now.

I've been visiting for awhile now, and at the mention of alcohol, somehow, I'm prompted to comment. Perhaps it's the fact I haven't had my drink in a long while.

But I never knew ice had such an effect, it would have saved me much trouble when I was often thrust into taking care of drunken people in the past.

I shall visit more :)

Shankar: Welcome :)
Glad to know that my post was a source of enlightenment to you--even if it was to do with drinking.

well, it's a little love of mine.

though, are you sure you've lost the voice to sing? I never thought one could.

five_silver_rings said...

No, I didn't lose my voice. Where did you get that idea from? Drinking ain't a 'lil love of mine'.. I am an occasional, more like a social drinker.

aaah, i mixed up your comment with the one i was supposed to leave elsewhere.Perhaps it was becasue I was commenting in an ungodly hour.

social drinking is good, or sadly, it gets to become an expensive habit.

methinks when one is down two screwdrivers and two long islands, one can basically do whatever the heck one wants....
and not know.
Ice. It is actually more interesting than water. really.

It's a ritual, I think and some prefer bubbling with ice. It makes you feel at ease, or maybe high, like beer.

I've seen people when stung by reptiles will be salvaged with ice. It's really cool using it. It's medicinal here...

Abench: Haha, I think I could figure that 'losing voice' comment being for someone else eventually.

Drinking is an expensive proposition. I wouldn't recommend it. Though if it's once in a blue moon, go for it baby!

Msytique: Honey, I know ice is more interesting than water, which is why I keep munching on it. Which reminds me, I was supposed to leave that habit a few days ago. Sigh. Me and my 'resolves'.

Anyway, I usually manage to still 'be' sane after 4 drinks down my throat, yet the desire to have ice was instinctive, or rather, habitual. Damn it.

Onyeka: Thanks for sharing. Bye.

I've never tried Ice in the middle of a spree. 'tis an interesting choice of stabilizer, if one is so inclined.

Drinking is a little too expensive, truly. But I got lucky the other day - actually won a free night at a club in Gurgaon on the Radio. Drank their bottom line to the red, I think. :-)

There are, of course, cheap alternative ways to social drink, involving bottles of Old Monks and a friend's place, where the friend is not encumbered by parental restrictions. A must try.

Abhik: Haha, yes, I surely deserve one more shot... you still, have to treat me for your birthday!! (which reminds me, I still have to treat you to coffee) :P

And yes, I really DO know about those tooth-aches. Sigh.

Arawn: Honey, you 'think' I haven't tried drinking at a friend's place? I think everyone in their teenage life has done that at least once-- that, and listening to really good music while you're at it.

And you lucky thing! You actually 'won' drinks. Envious. Really envious.

I think I won some more - Elevate, this Saturday, free drinks and food. My karma is awesome. :-)

I have a friend who wants taking out tonight - if you happen to come by soon enough, please suggest some nice places to go to tonight. He'd be very obliged.

O shoot! Didnt come online yesterday... unfortunately therefore, I couldn't reply to your comment earlier. Though I am positive that you two must have figured out something entertaining to do :)

Yes, we got some female company and went to Morrison Cafe. Liked the music there.

Out of curiousity, what would you have suggested?

five_silver_rings said...

Erm... Tabula Rasa, Thai Cafe (in Gurgaon).. would have suggested TCs (Andheri)--TCs was a place I frequented a lot.. A lot a lot. But the buggers closed it down. Sigh. Opus is 'supposedly' TCs twin at Vasant Vihar Market (a.k.a Priya), but I don't like the place somehow... It doesn't have the original TCs feel or ambiance. At Priya's you could also go to Hookah (if you like hookahs, that is), or Pebble Street or Mezz in New Friend's Colony--if you want to just sit back, relax and listen to some good music. Thai Cafe is brilliant for English music(classic rock, jazz, blues--the works). Cafe Morrison is a decent place, been there only during the gigs session though.

Hmm.. I guess I should stop here. This may suffice. Cheers, nonetheless :)

Whoa! A definitive guide, certainly. You come to Gurgaon often?

five_silver_rings said...

Gurgaon? Naah... Not that often... But yes, I do have family and friends there whom I end up meeting eventually :)

I've been there throughout these holidays, and haven't felt so detached from everything ever before. It's so the middle of nowhere while giving the impression of being the exact opposite.

Just wondering how often people come down here. This place depresses me.
